Constellation’s Operational Base to run entirely on renewable energy
The company will cease to emit about 35 tons of CO2e yearly with 100% of the electricity consumed at the unit coming from the renewable source.
Constellation has invested R$1,3 million installing solar panels in its operational base in Rio das Ostras, RJ, which occupies an area of approximately 59.000 m2. In total, all 662 solar panels installed have 260 kWp of potency, peaking 364.1 kWp, and occupy an area of around 1.700 m2. The system began operating in June 2023 and will have an estimated annual production of 526.000 kWh.
The operational base will cease to emit about 35 tons of CO2e (includes greenhouse gases) yearly with 100% of the electricity consumed at the unit coming from the renewable source. The initiative is linked to Constellation’s corporate ESG goals aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at its bases and offshore operating units.
Amongst the objectives related to the company’s climatic agenda are the reduction of 20% of diesel consumption (scope 3) per kWh demanded and the neutralization of 100% of scopes 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. These measures are in accordance with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
“This new cycle of growth in the oil and gas industry, which is so fundamental to sustaining energy transition, requires us to take an even closer look at the ESG agenda. In addition to the ability of delivering results, our mission is to collaborate with a productive model with lower CO2 emissions, greater diversity among teams and mitigation of socio-environmental impacts, always maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality”, says Rodrigo Ribeiro, Constellation CEO.
For conducting this Project, Constellation has chosen to work with Shop Solar, from Rio das Ostras (RJ), with local workforce, aligned with the company’s strategic vision to generate positive impact for local communities.
